FIMITIC Country Files Accessible in Research Room
The Archivum is pleased to announce the publication of a new archival series within the archival fonds dedicated to the Records of the International Federation of Persons with Physical Disability (FIMITIC). Series HU OSA 468-0-3 Country Files will be a treasure trove for researchers of disability, and a valuable source for students of history, the Cold War, European integration, comparative law, human rights, sociology, women's studies, labour movements, youth, health care, and much more.
The Country Files document the exchanges between the General Secretariat of FIMITIC and the various members and corresponding members of the organization. They include correspondence, statutes, leaflets, brochures, and other documents of the respective national association of persons with physical disability sent to FIMITIC headquarters, information on national events like congresses, workshops or actions, discussions about membership (applications with detailed questionnaires on the situation of persons with disability in the respective country, issues around membership fees, termination of membership, etc.), national legislation proposals or draft bills on disability, labour, construction standards, and so forth.
The time frame of the documents is set between the late 1950s and 2006, when the FIMITIC archive was readied for transfer from Bonn, Germany, to the town of Vác in Hungary. Documents created after the move to Hungary have yet to be arranged. Their geographical coverage reaches from the shores of the Atlantic to Central and Eastern Europe, including former Soviet republics.

The series was arranged and described by 2nd year CEU Historical Studies MA student Sydney Szijarto. It is now available to researchers in the Archivum Research Room.
