Institute for Advanced Study Fellows on tour at the Archivum

16/10/2025

Current fellows at CEU’s Institute for Advanced Study visited the Archivum at the beginning of their residence in Budapest. The group, including historians, political scientists, filmmakers, sociologists and media and communication experts was guided through the Archivum’s holdings and work, as well as the historic Goldberger House by Chief Archivist Csaba Szilágyi.

Visitors got acquainted with the Archivum’s signature collections on the history of communism, Cold War and their afterlives, human rights movements and violations, transitional societies, and marginalized groups such as refugees, ethnic minorities, LGBTQI+ people and people with physical disabilities. The Archivum’s proactive collecting and critical archiving was also extensively discussed with the fellows.

Concluding the tour, Senior Audiovisual Archivist Zsuzsa Zádori, who was also its co-curator, gave a brief intro to the Archivum’s current exhibition entitled The Tactless Photojournalist: Lajos Erdélyi’s Archive from the Ceaușescu Era.
