Visit of the Democracy Institute Leadership Academy (DILA)
On September 26, 2025, a group of twenty-five Democracy Institute Leadership Academy (DILA) fellows, accompanied by DILA Director Zsuzsanna Szelényi, visited the Archivum. After a brief welcome at the in-house Galeria Centralis, the group withdrew to the meeting room for a conversation about the diverse and complex work of the Archivum. Chief Archivist Csaba Szilágyi offered a general introduction, highlighting the Archivum's collections on the Cold War and its aftermath, as well as its growing corpus of documents on human rights violations worldwide. Senior Archivist Mark László-Herbert gave participants a glimpse into his everyday work—from accessioning to arranging to the presentation of collections in the Archivum’s online catalog. Particular attention was given to the link between archives and social justice, especially to the Archivum’s efforts to include minorities into historical and archival discourse through participatory archiving projects.
The CEU Democracy Institute Leadership Academy (DILA) is a unique, three-month, part-time, English-language leadership training program offered by the CEU Democracy Institute for a new generation of public leaders in Central and Eastern Europe.
