Chachipe (since 2007)

Chachipe Youth (2008-2009) was an international online photography competition organized by the Roma Initiative Office of the Open Society Institute-Budapest and the Archivum under the aegis of the Decade of Roma Inclusion (Deshbersh le Romengo Anderyaripnasko, 2005–2015), initiated by 12 European countries. The competition and its accompanying events, such as the main exhibition at the Galeria Centralis, the award ceremony, and a traveling exhibition, were intended to combat visual stereotypes of the Roma people and to authentically portray them as an integral part of their broader national communities. With the help of the National Association of Local Municipalities, selected works from the contest were exhibited also in several smaller towns in Hungary.
